Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says his administration decided to embark on the dualization of the Saakpenwa-Bori-Kono road project due to its economic importance as well as assuage the sufferings of users of the road which had almost become a death trap.
Governor Wike stated this today while speaking at a Thanksgiving Service to climax the Third Session of the Fourth Synod of the Diocese of Ogoni, Anglican Communion at All Saint’s Cathedral Church, Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area.
The road which construction work is in progress traversed three Local Government Areas in Ogoni land and also leads to Opobo/Nkoro and Andoni Local Government Areas.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, the Governor regretted that no attention was given to the road which had been on the drawing board for several years by the immediate past Government and restated the commitment of his administration to ensure that the road is completed according to specification despite the lean finances of Government.
Barr. Wike said he is pleased with the level of support given to the present administration so far by the People of Ogoni and sued for their continued peaceful disposition, urging them to re-enact their support for the PDP any time the rerun election is fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
“God will not allow anybody to steal your mandate. All you need to do is to re-affirm your mandate during the rerun election in the State”. The Governor stated.
He congratulated the Diocese of Ogoni, Anglican Communion for a successful Synod and urged prayer Warriors of the Diocese to continue to intercede for the Government against detractors who are bent on causing confusion and put the State in a bad light.
In his sermon, the Archbishop, Province of Niger Delta and Bishop, Diocese of Niger Delta North, Most Reverend I.C.O. Kattey urged Christians to make God their refuge in order to surmount all the
forces of darkness.
Reflecting on the theme of the Synod “They that Dwell under the Shelter of the Most High”, Most Reverend Kattey enjoined Christians to always pray and study the word to empower themselves spiritually in order to have dominion over principalities and powers.
Earlier, the Bishop of the Diocese of Ogoni, Anglican Communion, Rt. Reverend Solomon Gberegbara thanked Governor Wike for the assistance the Diocese had received from the State Government and enjoined him to remain steadfast and focus in his watch over the affairs of Rivers State.
Highlights of the Thanksgiving Service were prayers for the Governor and his team, Rivers State and Ogoni land, while the only lesson was read by the Governor’s representative.
