Rivers State Government says it would protect its mandate and ensure that the resources of the State are used to improve the living standard of Rivers people. Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, stated this when the Foundation for Female Empowerment (FFE) members, a Socio-Cultural Organization paid her a solidarity visit at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Dr. Banigo said the people of Rivers State voted for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Wike and herself because of their conviction that they possess the capacity to deliver quality service to them. “Rivers People voted for us because they believe that we will deliver the dividends of democracy to them and improve on the living standard of our people.” She declared.
According to her, “time has past when people came to Rivers State to take away our wealth. We are prepared to protect our resources for the betterment of our people.” The Deputy Governor assured that the State Government is willing to partner Organisations in providing services that would enhance the wellbeing of Rivers people.
She commended the young Ladies for coming together to project and support the education of the Girl Child in the State, adding that educating a woman has a multiplier effect on the society. Dr. Banigo reassured them of Governor Wike’s gender friendly disposition in appointing people to positions of trust in his administration, noting that the Government would involve the foundation in the scheme of things.
The Deputy Governor equally reiterated the determination of the present administration in restoring Port Harcourt to its Garden City status and lauded the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro. Felix Obuah for his dogged efforts in cleaning the state.
Earlier, President, Foundation for Female Empowerment (FFE), Ms Stella Wori Amesi, said the Organization was formed to encourage the Girl Child education, women development and empowerment through collaborative effort with Government and other Agencies.
She thanked the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his choice of Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo as his Deputy and commended them for the giant strides recorded in just few months in office, urging them not to give up on their mandate inspite of the injustice displayed by the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal. Highpoint of the ceremony was inauguration of Dr. Banigo as a member of the group and their Role Model.
