Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has expressed Government’s desire to reducing infant and maternal mortality in the State. Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo stated this when the Local Organizing Committee of the Pediatric Association of Nigeria, led by its Chairman, Professor Edward Alikor paid her a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt.
The Deputy Governor said Governor Wike-Led administration iscommitted to improving the healthcare delivery services especially children and mothers who are vulnerable groups in the society. “We are totally committed to seeing that the present rates of infant and maternal mortality rate are reduced drastically in Rivers State.”
Dr. Ipalibo Banigo who assured that the Governor Wike-Led Government has fashioned out programmes and policies to fulfill its electioneering promises to the people on Health care, commended the Pediatric Association of Nigeria for their efforts in caring for the health of children and encouraged them to do more.
Earlier, Chairman, Local Organizing Committee of the National Conference of the Pediatric Association of Nigeria, Professor Edward Alikor, said the essence of the visit was to intimate and seek support of Government on its forth-coming National Conference in January, 2015. Prof. Alikor also commended the State Government on its impressive achievements so far.
