The land reclamation project at the Ogbunabali/Nkpogu waterfront on the Eastern By-pass is aimed at developing a modern housing estate for the people of the state.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Monday supervised the ongoing dredging and reclamation works at the Ogbunabali/Nkpogu Waterfront where he expressed satisfaction with the work done so far.
The governor alongside technical experts and the contractor examined the quality of work done so far.
Addressing journalists after the inspection visit, Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Special Projects, Mr Cyril Dum Wite said the land reclamation project is an iconic project that will promote the economy of the area.
He said the nature of housing that will be developed in the area after the completion of the land reclamation will further make the Eastern By-pass attractive to investors.
"This project when completed will continue to serve the people of the state for many decades to come. This site will add value to the Eastern By-pass", he said.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Lands to the Rivers State Governor, Mr Anugbum Onuoha said the state government is developing the new site in the overall public interest.
He said that the project will be completed within the scheduled time as the State Government will adequately fund the contractor.
