Rivers State Government says it is committed to creating enabling environment for Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWD) to enable them attain their full potential in life. The Deputy Governor, Dr (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo stated this during a Musical Concert organised by one of the Physically Challenged Persons, Mr Alloysius Tenor and the Cheshire Home Choir at the St. Paul Cathedral Garrison, Port Harcourt.
The Deputy Governor who was represented by her Special Assistant, Legal, Mr Ishmael Blue –Jack, said Youth development is paramount in the policy thrust of the State Government, noting that engagement of Youths in productive ventures would check crime wave and other negative vices in the Society.
“The Government is prepared to fulfil its promises for the Youths which was launched during its electioneering campaign in the 23 Local Government Areas.” She asserted.
Dr Banigo also appealed to well-meaning Individuals and Corporate Organisations to always identify with the plight of the Physically Challenged in the society to enhance their standard of living.
Earlier, Mr Alloysisus Tenor, thanked the Deputy Governor for her support and encouragement for the less privileged in the State. Highlight of the occasion was the performance by the Physically Challenged Man, Mr. Alloysius Tenor and the Cheshire Home Choir.
