Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has tasked the people of the State to continue to live in peace and unity to engender the rapid socio-economic and political development of the State.
Dr. Banigo who stated this when members of the Old Skool Social Club of Bille, Nigeria paid her a courtesy visit at Government House, Port Harcourt, noted that for any Government to succeed the people must embrace peaceful co-existence and unity of purpose.
She said the Wike-led administration is passionate about touching the lives of every Rivers person contending that the Amnesty Programme was initiated for repentant cultist in the State in order to give them a base in society.
“This Government has the passion to touch the lives of everybody, it believes in the development of the people there is no discrimination whatsoever, so in our communities if we begin to divide ourselves it will only take us back, so we should believe the truth, seek out the truth, and follow the truth, and the truth is what this Government that God has put in place is speaking to us”.Banigo said.
The Deputy Governor stressed that the success recorded in the Amnesty Programme and hosting of several international conferences by the State Government has proven to those blackmailing the State that it is safe and secure for foreign and local investors to invest.
“I noticed that youth in our communities have agreed to fully embraced the Amnesty Programme and not go back to crime, as elders, we must begin to mentor this youth and encourage them to stay out of crime.” Dr. Banigo stated.
She assured the people of Bille Community of Governor Wike’s resolve in ensuring that every segment of the State is given a face lift through his developmental agenda.
Dr. Banigo further urged the people of the State to continue to support the Wike led administration, as it is working towards bringing remarkable changes in the lives of the people of the State.
Earlier, the Chairman of Old Skool Social Club of Bille, Nigeria, Mr. Reginald Dein expressed appreciation to Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his developmental strides so far, stressing that his leadership qualities is an indication of a man determined to give governance a human face.
Mr. Dein said the Club has over the past ten years been involved in human capacity building and community development and appealed to the State Government to reflect the name of Bille Kingdom on the ongoing reconstruction of Bonny Jetty, to be Bille-Bonny-Nembe Jetty as it was originally called.
He extolled the sterling qualities of Dr. Banigo and commended her for the harmonious working relationship existing between her and the State Governor which is helping to move the State forward. The address was presented by the secretary of the Club, Mr. Al Sibi.
