RSG POISE TO FIGHT INSECURITY
The State Deputy Governor Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has assured that the State Government is working tirelessly to ensure that security of lives and property of her citizens are guaranteed.
Dr. Banigo stated this when the Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Jaja visited her in Government House, Port Harcourt.
The Deputy Governor said Governor Wike is working assiduously in collaboration with Security Agents in the State to bring an end to incessant cases of kidnapping and other criminal acts perpetuated by hoodlums in some communities in the state.
She noted that Governor Wike’s marching order to the newly inaugurated Caretaker Committee Chairmen and their members to work closely with Security Agencies in their Local Government areas in curbing kidnapping and other social vices is a further demonstration of Government’s will to beef up its security network.
Dr. Banigo however, reminded Community Leaders and Royal Fathers of their significant roles in assisting Government check the rate of criminality in their various domains, adding that they should sensitize their people to have a mindset for peace at all times.
The Deputy Governor who expressed satisfaction with the support and solidity of the Royal fathers to the present administration also charged them to engage their people in activities that would engender harmonious coexistence.
“The Government is on top of the security situation in the State. If we all join hands together with Government, the issue of security challenge will be a thing of the past very soon.” She stated.
She reiterated State Government commitment to lead a purposeful and people oriented administration that will have direct impact on the lives of Rivers people.
Earlier, Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, (HRM Dandeson Jaja, expressed solidarity to the State Government and promise that Traditional rulers will partner the State Government to fight insecurity in the communities.
He commended Governor Wike for embarking on the “zero pothole” programme which has given roads in Port Harcourt and its environs facelift and urged him to extend same to other areas of the State.
