The Nyesom Wike-led administration takes it as top priority to get Rivers youths employed. Representing The Governor, The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, speaking at The 5th International Christian Business Exhibition & Conference (IC-BEC)), few hours ago, said that, since the government can only employ 20% of the population, the Conference was important to encourage people to set up their own businesses and embrace the spirit of Entrepreneurship in the State.
Having a top government representative at such forums goes a long way to emphasize the present administration’s commitment to economic growth in the state as well as its passion for unemployed Rivers youths. The focus of the government concerning unemployment in the state is to prepare a conducive and safe business atmosphere in the state to attract investors. When this is finally achieved, with other measures in place such as exploitation of agric sector and encouraging Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises, the rate of unemployment in the state will, no doubt, drop significantly in no distant time.
Before now, the Governor had promised to tackle the issue of unemployment in the state. Among other, exploitation of commercial agriculture; restarting the Cassava Processing Plant, etc are strategies that will pay off in the quest to reduce unemployment in Rivers State.
The New Rivers State has a team of prolific writers who will be introduced with time.
