BANIGO URGES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO COMPLETE PORT HARCOURT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has called on the federal Government to emulate the example of Rivers State Government Policy direction of completing all viable abandoned projects initiated by its predecessor .
Dr. Banigo stated this while reacting to recent publications in Local and International Media that the Port Harcourt International Airport is the worst in Africa.
In a statement issued by her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, Dr. Banigo said Port Harcourt is strategically located as the economic hub of the Nation in Oil and Gas production and therefore should be given preference and prompt attention by ensuring that the Airport is upgraded to an International standard .
The Deputy Governor noted that the country would have been spared the embarrassment of being alluded as hosting the worst Airport in the world if the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led Federal Government took proactive and tangible steps to ensure the completion of the Airport project ,five months after taking over the baton of governance on May, 2015.
She therefore urged the Federal Government to look beyond party lines and demonstrate statesmanship by responding positively and ensure the early completion of the Port Harcourt International Airport which serves as the socio-economic gateway to the Niger Delta and International investors to the South South States.
