Rivers State Governor , Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the State Government will partner with Rotary International to eradicate polio in the country.
The governor also declared that the State Government will continue to investigate massively in the promotion of security to attract international investors and visitors.
The governor spoke on Friday at the Government House , Port Harcourt when 35 Rotarians from the United States led by International Director of Rotary International , Mr Brad Howard and Former Rivers State Deputy Governor , Sir Gabriel Toby visited him of the events marking the Rotary International West Africa Project Fair.
He noted that the administration appreciates the programmes of the Rotary International to eradicate polio , hence the need to offer the required assistance and support.
He said: "As a government , we have invested in the eradication of polio and we shall continue to support Rotary International to achieve this worthy objective.
The governor said that the presence of several international Rotarians from the United States and Bahamas indicate the growing confidence of the international community on the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
Governor Wike expressed happiness that the improved security in the State is attracting more international investors and visitors to the State, pointing out that the international visitors will serve as ambassadors of Rivers State in the International community.
In his remarks, the International Director of Rotary International , Mr Brad Howard said the team was in the state to attend the Rotary International West Africa Project Fair and also engage with Nigerian communities in areas of partnership for development .
He added that the team is also in Rivers State to support the fight to eradicate polio through effective immunization and health care support.
Team Leader and Former Rivers State Deputy Governor , Sir Gabriel Toby commended Governor Wike for his support for the activities of Rotary International .
He noted that he informed the governor that the Rotary International West Africa Project Fair is a platform to promote international friendship and an avenue to reach local communities .
According to him , over 50 clubs from West Africa and East Africa are participating in the fair. He iinvited the governor to support Rotary International as a major donor.

Non -Indigenes in Rivers State have commended Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for ensuring that Non -Indigenes in the state benefit directly from projects and programmes of his administration .
Speaking during a courtesy visit by Non -Indigenes Without Borders at the Government House , Port Harcourt on Tuesday , National Leader of the group, Hon Emeka Onowu said that contrary to rumours by the opposition in the state that the governor will drive away the non-indigenes after winning the 2015 governorship election , Governor Wike has offered them critical appointments and integrated them in key empowerment programmes .
He said: "They claimed during the campaign that Governor Wike would chase away non-indigenes from the state. Today, the truth is out and their false propaganda has been exposed.
"Non-indigenes have never had it so good in Rivers State. Today, we have a Chief Judge , a commissioner , Caretaker Committee members , Senior Aides to the governor and our members have benefitted from the empowerment programme to traders and artisans ."
He said that the Wike administration has been demonstrated fairness and love in all her dealings with non-indigenes since 2015.
Responding, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike said anyone who casts his/her vote or does business in Rivers State is entitled to the proceeds of good governance from his administration .
He said he took a deliberate decision to always accommodate non indigenes in the Local Government Caretaker Committees for councils with considerable presence of non-indigenes .
The governor noted that non-indigenes play a critical role in the politics of the state because of their population .
"I commend the non-indigenes for standing by me during the election despite the negative propaganda by the opposition . I thank you for closing your ears to the concocted lies of the opposition .
"Now that the food is ready , non-indigenes are entitled to the benefit of their support . They will always benefit from good governance in this state".
As a mark of their appreciation, the Non -Indigenes Without Borders chaired by Hon Emeka Onowu presented an award of excellence to Governor Wike for his superlative performance .
