Dr. Banigo who made the remark at the Rivers West Senatorial District rally of the party at Degema, headquarters of Degema Local Government Area said the people’s resolve follows the capacity of the PDP administration led by Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to give governance a human face.

The Deputy Governor opined that since Chief Wike became the Governor of Rivers State, its lost glory is gradually being restored as evidenced by aggressive infrastructural development and improved security surveillance, especially the war against cultism and kidnapping which has endeared the administration to both indigenes and non-indigenes.

Dr. Banigo disclosed that Rivers West Senatorial District is for the PDP stressing that the people of the zone are only waiting for when the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC will re-schedule the re-run elections in the State to cast their votes for all PDP candidates.

She thanked Governor Wike, members of the State Executive Council, Legislators, Chieftains of the PDP and Caretaker Committee Chairmen of the area for taking part in the rally and commended the people of Rivers West Senatorial District for their massive turn out despite the heavy downpour describing it as a show of solidarity and love for the Party and the Government.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has explained that the ongoing demolition of criminal hideouts in the state is aimed at improving the security of lives and property and not to displace the residents of affected shanties.

The governor further stated that no government will fold its arms while criminals terrorise residents from known hideouts.

Speaking on Thursday when he received the management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Wike said his administration will always take the necessary legal steps to sustain and improve the relative peace being enjoyed in the state.

He said: "Our security measures are not targeted at any group. But we are interested in the security of lives and property, which remains paramount. No right thinking government will fold its hands and allow criminals to torment residents and drive away investors".

The governor added that the government is ensuring that the human rights of the people are not violated, but noted that the security of the vast majority of Rivers people must be paramount.

He assured the management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital that his administration will support it to deliver quality healthcare services to the people of the state.

He directed the Ministry of Works and Housing to liaise with the Hospital to work towards the rehabilitation of its access road and the Quarters for the house men in the health facility.

The governor also directed the State Health Commissioner to study the 2010 report prepared by the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and the State Ministry of Health on steps to be taken to improve health collaboration in the state.

He pointed out that health remains critical to the State Government, hence it introduced the intervention scheme that will empower private hospitals to improve health care services to the people.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Professor Aaron Ojule said that the hospital as the foremost tertiary health institution in the state has been working hard to deploy her skills-set in tackling the health challenges in the state.

He said: "This visit is to consolidate with your administration those areas of mutual cooperation with regards to healthcare delivery, while exploring those that offer new opportunities and prospects for improved healthcare delivery for the good people of Rivers State ".

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that the State Government will sincerely implement the resolutions of the peace meeting brokered by the Police and the Department of State Services for the peaceful conduct of rerun elections in the State.

The governor declared that he willingly participated at the peace meeting convened by the Inspector-General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Security because of his commitment to peace and the need to make sacrifices for the development of the state.

Addressing PDP faithful at the Rivers West Senatorial District Rally in Degema on Wednesday, Governor Wike stated that the people of the state must be allowed to elect Representatives of their choice at the National and State Assemblies.

He said: “I was at the peace meeting because we love peace and want the state to move forward. I signed an undertaking on your behalf that we are prepared for INEC credible, free and fair elections.

"It is not in our position to have crisis because we are the ones losing ". He noted that the Rivers State Government will partner with security agencies to ensure that peaceful elections hold in the state. He said those who want the state to burn will be disappointed.

Governor Wike expressed sadness that some politicians are celebrating that the elections were postponed, saying that his commitment that Rivers State should have Representatives at the National Assembly is because the people of the state have been shut out on the deliberation of the Petroleum Industry Bill and other legislations.

He called on PDP members to remain vigilant while expecting the rerun elections. The governor said that: "Nigerians know , the world knows that Rivers State is PDP. So shall it be forever."
He pledged to ensure that development gets to all Local Government Areas of the State. He said with the successes achieved in just one year, the remaining three years will witness more development.

Also speaking, Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry Banigo said the massive turnout of the people is an indication that the people will always vote PDP candidates.

Senator Osinakachukwu Ideozu, Rivers West Senatorial District PDP candidate, said that the reason given by INEC for the postponement of the rerun elections was not tenable as the state is peaceful.

Former Acting National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus decried the frequency of inconclusive elections under the leadership of the APC.

It will be recalled that INEC postponed the scheduled July 30, 2016 rerun elections following the request by the Rivers State APC.
Despite the postponement, thousands of PDP members still attended the Rally in Degema.

BENEFITS OF GOVERNOR WIKE’S SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP WITH THE OGONI ETHNIC NATIONALITY

7/15/2016

It is not in doubt, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is in love with the Ogoni ethnic nationality. He is committed to the transformation of the area and the comprehensive empowerment of Ogoni people.

His love for the Ogoni ethnic nationality is practical, without any form of deceit. As such, right from the era of campaigns to his assumption of office as the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has established and maintained a functional communication channel with the leaders and people of the Ogoni ethnic nationality.

This functional communication channel has led to a symbiotic relationship between Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the Ogoni people. The most fruitful in the history of the state. While the Ogoni people are ever willing to support Governor Wike every step of the way, Governor Wike has reciprocated by always delivering on all his campaign pledges to the Ogoni people.

The Ogoni people appreciate the efforts of Governor Wike because the immediate past administration in the state after engaging in so much propaganda, did nothing for the Ogoni people. The governor's investments in the hitherto neglected area have kick-started a rebuilding process that the people have yearned for over the years.

On Wednesday, 12th July, 2016, Governor Wike embarked on a developmental visit to Bori, the traditional headquarters of the Ogoni ethnic nationality. This visit was aimed at consolidating the developmental projects already being executed by the Wike administration in Ogoni land and also set in motion the machinery for new projects.

It turned out to be an agenda setting visit as Governor Wike met with the future leaders of Rivers State , exchanged views with them and agreed on the processes to be adopted to further develop Ogoni land and the state.

From the traditional rulers and political leaders who received the governor on the project fields of the Sakpenwa-Bori Road to the school children at the Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori down to the students and staff of the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori , the love for the commitment of Governor Wike to the development of Ogoni land was palpable.

It was a day of celebration of the efforts of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to fully drive practical development in Ogoni land. It was a day when the reality of genuine development triumphed over the futility of propaganda. It was a day that the solemn commitment was made to carry forward the banner of development in Ogoni land, with Governor Wike as the experienced driver.

Of course, the transformation of the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, into a world class centre for the grooming of leaders formed the centrepiece of the engagement of Governor Wike with the Ogoni people.

As the fundamental way forward, Governor Wike stated that his administration will work towards the accreditation of all the academic programmes of the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori. According to him, the process to revive the polytechnic will start with the upgrade of the school's workshops and laboratories.

Addressing thousands of the Students of the Polytechnic at the school's auditorium, Governor Wike stated that upon the improvement of the state's internally generated revenue, his administration will establish a polytechnic in each senatorial district to create more access to quality education.

The governor explained that the establishment of the Port Harcourt Polytechnic was not an attempt to kill the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic as being peddled by political opponents. He said he is interested in the development of Ogoni and other parts of the Rivers State.

He said: " I make the solemn pledge to ensure the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic facilities are improved for the school to carry out its core mandate. That is why I am here to inspect the school and thereafter improve her facilities. "Having a polytechnic in another location will not remove the polytechnic here. We will extend the necessary grant to the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic for the improvement of her facilities, especially workshops and laboratories ".

The governor noted that the state government has concluded plans to improve security in Bori and its environs. He warned the students to shun crime and embrace peaceful lifestyle, so that they are not caught in the Web of law enforcement.

He assured that his administration will pay the bursaries of students after verifying the list of benefitting students across the state. Governor Wike announced the confirmation of the appointment of the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Bori, Dr Oneniye -Ofori Georgewill following the overwhelming request of the students through their leadership.

The governor also announced the donation of Coaster Bus to the Students Union Government of the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic. In his remarks, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Chief Adokiye Amaesimaka commended the governor for his investments in the development of the institution.

Also speaking, President of the Students Union Government of the institution, Comrade Peter Dunobari commended the governor for setting up a credible governing council and management that have improved basic amenities in the state institution. At the Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori, Governor Wike assured the students that his administration will conclude work on the total rehabilitation of the school. He said that the laboratories and hostels of the school will be upgraded to the best of standards.

He also said that his administration will complete the rehabilitation of the Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori and dualise the Sakpwenwa-Bori road for the good of the Ogoni ethnic nationality. While inspecting the Sakpwenwa-Bori road, Governor Wike told Ogoni people that the state government will also install street lights from Sakpwenwa to Bori to give the area the face lift it deserves.

"I am here to entrench the good governance and not to play politics. Whatever I say I will do, that's what I will do. I am free within this community because I keep all my promises", the governor said. The days ahead for the Ogoni ethnic nationality are bright. In Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, they have a partner who will always be truthful to them at all times. In Governor Wike, they have a committed ally who will always give them their due in the development equation of Rivers State.

The days of political propaganda merchants who did nothing but tell lies are gone. This is a new era when the people must continue to enjoy the benefits of democracy. The only person to deliver these projects is Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. Like everyone in Rivers State, Ogoni people are celebrating because Rivers State is new.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on married couples to pay more attention in building their families as the revival of the country depends on well-nurtured families.

Speaking during the wedding of Mr and Mrs Abel Tariah in Port Harcourt at the weekend, Governor Wike said that children who come from responsible homes hardly deviate from the path of development.

The governor said as long as children are properly trained at the level of families, vices such as cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery will be reduced to the barest minimum.

He said that the bride groom who is the son of a late Judge and the bride who is the daughter of former Acting National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, must build on the successes of their parents by training up their own children in the way of God.

He said: "Build your marriage on the word of God. Don't bother about the advise from your friends. A marriage built on God will always survive and impact the society positively ".

While noting that his administration has always worked for the success of families in the state, the governor assured the newly wedded couple of his support at all times.

In his remarks, Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Austin Okpara who was chairman of the occasion described marriage as a God ordained institution meant to develop the society.

He charged the newly wedded couple to sink whatever background and professional differences they have and root their marriage in God.
